We understand that getting to our clinic may not always be possible, which is why we offer a home visit podiatry service to ensure that everyone has access to quality foot care.

Our philosophy is to provide an ongoing service for our clients; for as long as they need us. Our at home service and continuity of care is something we’ve always offered. For the last eight years, at least one of our six Podiatrists makes a home visit every day.

Our home visit service provides clinical level Podiatric care and is available to people who have mobility issues and can’t access public transport, are physically unable to drive a car, are elderly, or have an injury that means they can’t travel.

The service is easy to use – simply call our clinic to schedule an appointment with one of our team. We’ll make the booking and one of our six qualified podiatrists will drive to the patient’s home.

During the appointment, we’ll conduct a thorough examination of the feet and provide the same level of treatment and care as is available in our clinics.

What is Home Visit Podiatry?

Home visit podiatry is a service that allows our experienced podiatrists to come to a patient’s home, and provide them with foot care services. This is ideal for patients who may have difficulty getting to our clinic but who need Podiatric care.

We cover the Eastern suburbs surrounding our two clinics: – as far as Lilydale to the north, Lysterfield to the south, Glen Waverley, Bulleen, Templestowe, and Kew.

Each of our Podiatrists make home visits so that we can cover as large an area as possible to carry out assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions related to the foot and ankle.

How Does Home Visit Podiatry Work?

Our home visit podiatry service is easy to organise. Patients call our clinic and schedule an appointment with one of our podiatrists. We’ll find a suitable booking and a podiatrist will arrive at the scheduled time.

The experience is very similar to being in the clinic and the appointment will run like any other consultation. We’ll set up a treatment area and make sure patients have somewhere comfortable to sit. All of the instruments we use are taken back to the clinic and sterilised after each appointment.

During the appointment, as in the Clinic, the podiatrist will conduct a thorough examination of the feet to identify any potential issues. We’ll also provide treatments and care as necessary, such as nail care, callus removal, and wound care. The podiatrist will also provide advice and recommendations on how to maintain healthy feet and prevent foot-related conditions.

We’ll generally see patients every 6 – 10 weeks depending on their condition. Some injuries require more regular visits to the standard and we can accommodate those.

We treat people under the NDIS, work with GPs, Royal District Nurses and other care or package providers to ensure integrated care for our patients.

What Can We Treat at Home?

We can treat any of the usual conditions within a patient’s home including nail care, callus removal, wound care, and treatment for foot pain and biomechanical issues. We supply all the equipment needed for the home visit and remove any rubbish afterwards.

Some of the common conditions we treat at home include:

  • General skin care: treatment for rough or dry skin, flesh wounds
  • Nail care: trim and file toenails and provide treatments for fungal infections
  • Callus and corn removal: removal of calluses and corns to relieve pain and discomfort
  • Ingrown toenails: management of or removal of ingrown toenails
  • Sports Injuries and rehabilitation: treating injuries and prescribing strengthening and stretching exercises
  • Diabetic foot management: we can provide wound care services for diabetic foot ulcers or other foot-related wounds
  • Foot pain: evaluation and treatment for foot pain, including heel pain, arch pain, and ball of foot pain
  • Biomechanical issues: evaluation of biomechanical issues, such as flat feet or high arches, treatment with custom orthotics or other methods
  • Orthotics – taking scans of the feet with our mobile technology to make the orthotics (we’d usually create a plaster cast in the clinic). This is then sent to the lab for production of the prescription orthotics.
